Ruxley House

A demanding development of 18 age-restricted flats built using the SIPs system. Access was limited to an alley less than three metres wide.

All materials were offloaded on the main A24 London Road onto tipper trucks or craned over the wall of the adjoining supermarket.

The building was built set (on 85 piles) a metre below ground level to comply with a height restriction, which involved deep excavation (5 metres) for the installation of the drainage pumping station. Landscaping of the garden had to have regard to the 1,100 volt cable leading to the adjacent substation.
